Teaching

A year later I opened a teaching studio at Craft Habitat in Richmond where I ran art classes for children and painting classes for adults, discovering that helping people to develop their creativity gave me a real buzz. It also provided a good life balance as painting is a very solitary activity. For years I worked happily on my own, but teaching has helped to bring out the extrovert in me.

In 2011 I was appointed as a tutor at Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT) where I taught for 4 years in the Creative Industries Arts and Media programme. In 2015 I started teaching night classes and weekend workshops as part of the Adult Community Education (ACE) programme at NMIT which was reinstated that year. Those courses continued until the end of 2023.

See the list below for the various private classes I now offer during the school term. I also run regular one and two day painting and drawing weekend workshops throughout the year, each one with a different focus, please email me to receive the current workshop list.

Painting classes cater for those using oils and acrylics.
